Indian Diaspora Speaks Out Against ‘Racist’ Assaults Targeting Trump’s Pick, Sriram Krishnan

Indiaspora Condemns Racist Attacks on AI Advisor Sriram Krishnan

Washington DC, December 28, 2024 – Indiaspora has issued a strong statement against the racist attacks aimed at Sriram Krishnan, who was recently named Senior AI Advisor by President-elect Donald Trump.

In the advisory, Indiaspora emphasized that there is no room for hateful and racially charged remarks in public discussions. "Sriram Krishnan has received unjustified attacks based on his Indian heritage upon his appointment to this crucial position. We unequivocally denounce all forms of racism," the statement read.

Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna also spoke out against those criticizing Krishnan for his background. He highlighted that America’s ability to attract global talent exemplifies the country’s uniqueness compared to others, particularly China. Responding to a comment that questioned Krishnan’s eligibility due to his Indian roots, Khanna defended him on social media, stating that it’s commendable talent from around the world wishes to work in the U.S.

Sriram Krishnan, appointed by Trump, will serve as a Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Trump praised Krishnan’s expertise and expressed his confidence in Krishnan’s ability to help maintain America’s leadership in AI.

In a personal statement, Krishnan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve his country, stating, "I’m honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI."

Prior to this role, Krishnan was a General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz and has invested in numerous reputable companies, including SpaceX and Figma. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology from SRM Engineering College, Anna University.
