In the days leading up to the much-anticipated match, both Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja found themselves in uncomfortable situations with members of the Australian press. Kohli had a heated exchange with a female journalist who took photographs of his family without their consent, while Jadeja faced criticism for allegedly not responding to questions in English after a practice session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

He emphasized his need for privacy, particularly when it comes to his children, explaining, “With my kids, I need some privacy. You can’t film without asking me.”

The situation escalated when an Australian journalist expressed frustration over this, even after India’s media manager explained that the conference was primarily meant for Indian reporters. Despite the manager’s attempts to clarify, tensions remained high, with the Australian journalist expressing dissatisfaction and even calling the organization “hopeless.”
An Indian reporter who attended the press conference noted that many Indian journalists also missed their chance to ask questions due to time limitations but did not react as aggressively as their Australian counterparts.
