IND vs AUS 3rd Test, Brisbane: Gavaskar Highlights Game-Changing Duo of Bumrah and Akash Deep

Gavaskar Praises Bumrah and Akash Deep for Game-Changing Partnership on Day 4 in Brisbane

Former Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has highlighted the significant impact of Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep’s partnership on Day 4 of the Test match in Brisbane. Their impressive performance helped prevent the Indian team from following on, allowing India to finish the day with just 193 runs behind Australia’s first innings total of 445.

Bumrah and Akash Deep faced the Australian bowlers, including Pat Cummins, with confidence, hitting two sixes off him during their 50-ball stand. This unexpected alliance not only bolstered the Indian innings but also provided crucial protection to the Indian openers against the new ball as the day concluded.

In an exclusive interview, Gavaskar expressed that this partnership could be a turning point in the series. He emphasized that while Australia had held the advantage for much of the game, a loss in this Test could shift the momentum in favor of India. “After the loss in Adelaide, Australia had the upper hand, especially after they bowled India out early and managed to score 445 from a shaky 70 for 3. However, history shows that momentum can easily shift,” he explained.

Gavaskar also speculated on India’s potential to chase down any target set in the final session. He noted that if India could save wickets, they might entertain the idea of chasing around 150 runs. He recalled India’s previous performance at the Gabba, where the team successfully chased a target of 328 runs in a thrilling conclusion to the match.

“The chase depends greatly on how the team starts in their second innings. If they get a solid start, with strong players like Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jadeja in the lineup, they could indeed make a run for it if the target is reasonable,” Gavaskar added, reflecting on the capabilities of the current squad.

As the Test match progresses, eyes will be on how India responds and whether they can turn the tide in their favor in the upcoming matches.
