Support for Tech Education
The Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) has received a significant grant of nearly $1 million from a state initiative aimed at enhancing technical education in community colleges. This funding is intended to help students acquire skills for high-paying jobs in industries that are in demand within the local job market.
MetroED’s Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) program will benefit from $989,645 allocated through the K12 Strong Workforce Program. The goal of this funding is to prepare students for the growing needs in green technology fields. This includes training in areas such as electric vehicle tech, environmentally friendly HVAC systems, fire science focused on sustainability, and clean diesel technology.
MetroED serves both high school and adult learners in Santa Clara County. It operates under a collaborative agreement that includes the Campbell Union High School District and partners with several local colleges, such as Evergreen Community College, Mission College, San Jose City College, and West Valley College.
