Konkona Sen Sharma, a talented actress known for her impressive performances in films like Omkara, Wake Up Sid, and Life…In A Metro, has landed a role in an exciting international film called Mis(s)Chief. This film is being directed by Anu Vaidyanathan and will also feature Spanish actor Carlos Bardem, who is the brother of the renowned Oscar winner, Javier Bardem. The announcement was made during the Film Bazaar in Goa.
Mis(s)Chief, which showcases a partnership between UK and India-based Avani Films, is currently under development and has made it to the second round of the 2025 Sundance Development Labs, according to reports.
The film is a comedy that follows the character Rumi, a mother of two who dreams of becoming a filmmaker. Throughout the story, she faces challenges related to her troubled marriage, her children’s homework, and unexpected troubles with a gangster due to a chance incident.
British filmmaker Peter Weber is on board as the Executive Producer, while Emmy-nominated casting director Nancy Bishop will be responsible for casting the film. Konkona expressed her excitement about the project, saying, "I am thrilled by the comic premise, the portrayal of women, and the writing itself."
Director Anu Vaidyanathan shared that she sees a lot of similarities between Konkona’s real-life experiences and those of Rumi, who is trying to balance parenting with her filmmaking aspirations. She expressed her excitement about having such talented actors as Konkona and Carlos to bring these characters to life.
Recently, Konkona appeared in the comedy crime thriller web series Killer Soup, where she starred alongside Manoj Bajpayee. The show, directed by Abhishek Chaubey, was released on Netflix.
