Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, highlighted the need for global teamwork in technology during a recent talk in Hong Kong. He pointed out that while future U.S. administrations might tighten regulations on advanced tech exports, he remains optimistic about the continuity of international cooperation in science and technology.

Huang’s comments come as the U.S. maintains restrictions on tech exports to China, a stand that began under Donald Trump’s administration and persisted with Joe Biden, primarily due to national security issues.

He mentioned that global collaboration in science and mathematics has been crucial in fostering societal and scientific advancements. Despite the challenges, Nvidia aims to follow regulations while still innovating and supporting customers around the globe.

On the topic of artificial intelligence (AI), Huang declared that we have officially entered the “age of AI.” He made these remarks after being awarded an honorary doctorate in engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Alongside him, notable figures like actor Tony Leung and Nobel laureate Prof. Michael Levitt also received honors.

“The age of AI has started,” Huang stated, indicating that this new technology would influence every industry and area of science. He emphasized Nvidia’s role in transforming computing, which started with the invention of the graphics processing unit (GPU) 25 years ago.

According to him, “AI is undoubtedly the most significant technology we have seen, perhaps ever.” Huang described this time as a fresh beginning for many industries, stating that new tools are now available to tackle significant challenges that once seemed impossible to overcome.
