Nonprofit Program Empowers Communities with Tech Training
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Per Scholas North Carolina is making strides to support people in underserved communities by providing valuable training for careers in technology. This nonprofit program is dedicated to helping individuals reach their career goals and improve their lives.
Chris Ham is one of the many success stories from Per Scholas. With a passion for technology, he completed the program and landed a job at Wells Fargo, a role he once thought was out of his reach. "It’s an opportunity for education and a chance to level up without the burden of debt," Chris shared.
Chris aimed to enter the field of cybersecurity. "I was determined to succeed, but I never imagined I’d achieve such a high position so quickly," he added.
Per Scholas offers free tech training designed to boost economic growth and create job opportunities. Michael Terrell, the senior managing director of Per Scholas North Carolina, emphasized the importance of understanding community needs. He explained, "When we see people in our community landing good-paying jobs with great benefits, it shows our efforts are making a difference. It’s not just about individual success; it’s about uplifting the entire community."
Graduates of the program encourage others who might be considering it. "Go for it! There’s nothing to lose. It’s free, structured, and designed for your success. They even cover the cost for your CompTIA exam," said Chris. "It’s an amazing program."
Per Scholas is committed to helping individuals gain the skills they need to thrive in the tech industry, creating a brighter future for both individuals and the community as a whole.
