Cricket Australia Under Fire for Ignoring Pakistan’s ODI Series
New Delhi: Cricket Australia and its broadcasting partners are facing criticism for prioritizing the upcoming five-Test series against India over the recent ODI series with Pakistan. Jason Gillespie, head coach of Pakistan, expressed his disappointment at the lack of promotion for the Pakistan ODI series, which they won 2-1. This victory marked Pakistan’s first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
Gillespie pointed out that he noticed little to no advertising for the one-day series and felt it was evident that Cricket Australia was focusing more on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India. "Honestly, I barely saw any promotion for our one-day series, which surprised me. It’s clear that they are prioritizing the Test series with India," Gillespie stated.
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team aims to achieve an unprecedented third consecutive series win in Australia. India previously secured series victories in Australia during the 2018-19 season under Virat Kohli and again in 2020-21 with Ajinkya Rahane as captain.
The Test series is set to kick off with the first match in Perth on November 22, followed by a day-night match at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10. The action then moves to The Gabba in Brisbane for the third Test from December 14 to 18, before culminating in the traditional Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30. The series will wrap up with the final Test match in Sydney, starting on January 3.
