In a surprising turn of events within the bustling realm of Indian cinema, renowned Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has stepped into the shoes of Ayushmann Khurrana for Meghna Gulzar’s forthcoming film, currently dubbed Daayra. This shift comes as Khurrana has had to bow out due to unavoidable scheduling clashes that stem from his myriad engagements.

Daayra promises to be a gripping narrative, with Prithviraj expected to portray a cop, navigating the murky waters of a storyline inspired by a disturbing real-life incident. It appears that the narrative is not merely a tale of crime but a deeper exploration of human psychological complexities and societal issues that will resonate with audiences in profound ways.

Reports from India Today reveal that following Ayushmann Khurrana’s exit, which coincided with Sidharth Malhotra also stepping back for similar reasons, the filmmakers turned to Prithviraj. Delighted by the project’s weighty message, he swiftly connected with the script. An insider shared insights into Prithviraj’s pivotal role, emphasizing how it serves as the driving force of the story, while Kareena Kapoor’s character is set to showcase a potent mix of strength, vulnerability, and intuition—an intriguing juxtaposition.

As for Ayushmann, his departure can be mainly pinned on an array of prior commitments. The actor is heavily engaged with a lengthy music tour spanning significant U.S. cities and is also juggling an impressive slate of film projects, including the much-anticipated Border 2, along with collaborations with notable names such as Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor. With the dates overlapping, he made the pragmatic decision to withdraw from Daayra, creating an avenue for Prithviraj to make his mark.

In the landscape of his career, Prithviraj Sukumaran has recently graced the screen in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, where he faced off against the likes of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff as the formidable antagonist. His performance in Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life), depicting the harrowing journey of an immigrant laborer caught in a web of slavery in the Middle East, further showcases his range and depth as an actor.

Looking toward the horizon, Prithviraj is not only engaging with Daayra, but he has also concluded the third schedule of his own directorial venture, L2E: Empuraan. This sequel to the smash hit Lucifer has stirred considerable excitement among fans, all eagerly awaiting the return of Mohanlal’s iconic character, Stephen Nedumpally. The cinematic world holds its breath for this multilingual project set to elevate the stakes even higher in the Malayalam film industry.

As the industry buzz continues to grow, anticipation swirls around both Daayra and Prithviraj’s upcoming endeavors, signaling an exhilarating season ahead for cinephiles.
