Iran Asserts Nuclear Weapon Capability Amidst Ayatollah’s Fierce Warning to Israel and the US

Iran has boldly asserted its capacity to manufacture nuclear weapons, with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declaring a “tooth-breaking” reprisal against both Israel and the United States this past Saturday. The tension escalated as Kamal Kharrazi, a prominent advisor to Khamenei, articulated on Friday the potential modification of Iran’s nuclear weapon policies in the face of what he termed an “existential threat.”

“If an existential threat arises, Iran will modify its nuclear doctrine. We possess the capability to develop weapons and have no qualms in this regard,” Kharrazi affirmed during a dialogue with Lebanese media platforms.

Reinforcing this staunch rhetoric was General Mohammad Naeini of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, who proclaimed that a formidable and strategic response awaits any aggressive actions from adversaries. “A decisive and strong response will be given to the enemy’s new aggression. It will be beyond the enemy’s comprehension. The enemy must learn its lesson that it cannot engage in any act of hostility without receiving a crushing response in return,” Naeini asserted.

His fervent comments followed Israel’s strike on October 26, which targeted crucial military installations in Iran, a reaction to a barrage of over 200 missiles launched from Iranian territory toward Israel on October 1.

In a parallel development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted on Thursday that Iran’s nuclear ambitions might soon be the focal point of Israel’s military objectives amidst escalating threats from Tehran.

While maintaining a robust alliance with the U.S., Israel has been cautioned repeatedly against striking Iran’s energy infrastructure, particularly its nuclear and oil facilities, due to fears that such actions might ignite a broader regional conflict.

Amid ongoing tensions, reports emerged this week suggesting that Iran might postpone any retaliatory actions until after the upcoming U.S. presidential election, although some analyses suggest Tehran’s counterstrike could happen with little to no warning.

In a climate already fraught with uncertainty, the stakes continue to rise as the intricate dance of power, threat, and retaliation unfurls across the geopolitical landscape.
