Fatima, a mere 22 years old, has recently navigated the choppy waters of personal loss following her father’s passing. During this tumultuous time, she was absent from the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 match against Australia, opting to return to her native Karachi to bid farewell to her beloved father.

Meanwhile, Shreyanka, who made her impressive entry onto the global stage in the UAE, took a moment to extend her condolences in a most artistic manner. She presented Fatima with a heartfelt painting adorned with the inspiring phrase, “Do what you love – Shrey 31.” Fatima, deeply touched, publicly expressed her gratitude: “Thank you, Shreyanka, for this beautiful gift and the message,” she wrote, her words a testament to their burgeoning friendship.

Over the course of three matches, she managed to accumulate 64 runs, averaging a respectable 21.33, and striking at 125.49, with her highest score a commendable 30 against the formidable Sri Lanka, led by Chamari Athapaththu, in the vibrant surroundings of Sharjah.

In a remarkable display of resilience, Fatima garnered accolades from cricket enthusiasts and peers alike for her fortitude, particularly as she took to the field in a decisive match against Sophie Devine’s New Zealand on the Monday following her loss. The tears she shed in the moments leading up to the game reflected the depth of her emotions.

On the flip side, Shreyanka too faced the bitter taste of disappointment when Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian team was unable to secure a spot in the semifinals.
