New York [US], September 23 – In a vibrant display of unity and cultural pride, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the stage at the Nassau Coliseum, amidst a throng of 15,000 enthusiastic members of the Indian diaspora from 42 states, affirming the indestructible bond shared between the people of India and their kin across the globe. The event, aptly named Modi&US, served as a celebration of the crucial role that the Indian community plays in the tapestry of India-US relations.

As Modi stood before the eager crowd, he proclaimed with fervor, “You have forged connections that transcend oceans; India and America are intertwined through your unwavering skill, talent, and dedication. No distance can diminish your bond with our homeland.” His conviction echoed through the hall, affirming that even while living far from home, the heart remains tethered to the roots.

Emphasizing the invaluable contributions of the diaspora, he affectionately dubbed them “Rashtra Doot,” or national ambassadors, remarking on their transformative role in taking “Apna Namaste” from local greetings to a worldwide phenomenon. “Every Indian who carries the essence of India within them has played a part in this global embrace,” he asserted.

He extolled the community for embodying the age-old principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which resonates deeply within the hearts of many—that the entire world is indeed one family. With an eloquence that stirred passions, Modi reflected on the love and camaraderie shared during his travels, recalling how, wherever he roams, he encounters the warmth of diverse Indian tongues—be it Tamil, Telugu, or Punjabi—yet all unified by a singular sentiment: Indianness.

With nostalgia in his voice, Prime Minister Modi shared tales from yesteryears when he was but a humble visitor to the US, driven by an insatiable curiosity long before he donned the mantle of leadership. “I consider your affection and support my greatest fortune. Even before I held any high office, I traversed through 29 states in America, eager to connect with each of you,” he reminisced.

Diving deeper into the essence of India, he celebrated its remarkable diversity, proclaiming, “In a land of myriad languages and faiths, we advance with unity as our strength, binding us to the global community in an inseparable embrace.”

Acknowledging the hospitality of US President Joe Biden, Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude for the kindness shown during his visit to Biden’s Delaware home, declaring, “Such warmth resonates not just with me; it reflects the honor of 1.4 billion Indians, a testament to your achievements as well.”

He underscored the significance of democratic traditions, stating, “The recent elections in India stand as the largest democratic exercise in human history. This 2024 is pivotal—while some nations grapple with conflict, we celebrate democracy together.” He noted that in India, voters outnumbered the entire population of the US twofold, reinforcing the weight of their democratic engagement.

As Modi made his exit, the audience erupted in a standing ovation. The atmosphere had been electrified by enchanting performances from talented members of the Indian community, which perfectly set the stage for the Prime Minister’s rousing address.

This momentous occasion at the Nassau Coliseum was not merely an event; it was a vivid embodiment of the longstanding ties that bind India and the US, a celebration of past achievements and a hopeful gaze toward a future of collaboration and prosperity. As he prepared for further diplomatic engagements, including key meetings and a CEO Roundtable, Modi continued to pave pathways for bilateral cooperation, solidifying the foundation of enduring friendship between the two nations.
