NEW DELHI:<\/strong> Indian and U.S. officials announced on Saturday that they have made significant strides towards a bilateral trade agreement after several days of discussions in New Delhi.<\/p>\n The talks took place from March 26 to March 29, involving representatives from India\u2019s commerce ministry and a U.S. trade delegation led by Brendan Lynch, the assistant U.S. trade representative for South and Central Asia.<\/p>\n These negotiations are occurring as U.S. President Donald Trump plans to implement reciprocal tariffs on various trading partners starting April 2. India is hopeful for an exemption during these ongoing discussions. Both nations are aiming to finalize the initial phase of a trade deal by this fall.<\/p>\n A joint statement from the negotiations indicated that the productive dialogue signifies a commitment to enhance trade and investment ties between India and the U.S., fostering prosperity, security, and innovation for both countries.<\/p>\n In an effort to ease U.S. concerns, India recently announced plans to eliminate a digital advertisement tax. This follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s visit to Washington, where he promised to increase purchases of U.S. energy products and defense equipment.
