The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is gearing up for an exciting start on March 22, with the reigning champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, set to face off against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the iconic Eden Gardens. This venue will also host the final match of the tournament on May 25. According to sources, Dharamsala and Guwahati will once again host several IPL matches this season.<\/p>\n
Dharamsala will serve as the second home ground for the Punjab Kings, alongside their main venue in Mullanpur. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals will establish their presence in Guwahati, in addition to their usual home ground in Jaipur. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to reveal the complete schedule, but an announcement detailing the list of venues and matches is expected soon.<\/p>\n
Last season, Punjab faced off against the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home but unfortunately lost both games. This year, however, there\u2019s hope for an extra match at the scenic venue. The Royals played against the Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati last season, managing a loss to Punjab and a washout against Kolkata.<\/p>\n
On March 23, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings, under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, will kick off their IPL 2025 journey at their home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium, against the Mumbai Indians, also five-time champions, captained by Hardik Pandya.<\/p>\n
While both CSK and MI have confirmed their captains, Kolkata is still deciding who will lead the team after their previous captain, Shreyas Iyer, moved to the Punjab Kings this season. The Royal Challengers have also appointed a new captain, Rajat Patidar, who takes over from Faf du Plessis. <\/p>\n
