Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow, is facing significant flooding for the first time in twenty years, as the Gomti River’s water level continues to rise. Key locations in the city, such as Hanumant Dham, the Gomti Nagar riverfront, Prayag Sthal, and Faizullaganj, are experiencing partial submersion.<\/p>\n
At Hanumant Dham, water has reached the temple domes, affecting nearby rides and vehicles. As a result, officials have closed the area to visitors. Similarly, the popular Gomti Nagar riverfront has been shut to ensure the safety of tourists.<\/p>\n
In response to the situation, Lucknow Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar announced that the local authorities have deployed over 70 boats and established both temporary and permanent shelter homes. Medical camps have also been set up to assist those in need. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are on the ground to help evacuate stranded residents. For those who have chosen to stay on higher floors of their homes, food, medicines, and supplies are being delivered by boat.<\/p>\n
To manage the crisis effectively, a control room has been set up and is operating around the clock to address emergency calls, aiming to respond within one to two hours.
