Idaho Potato Commission and Spud Daddy Reclaim World Record for Largest Serving of Fries<\/strong><\/p>\n BOISE, Idaho, Oct. 5, 2026 \u2013 The title for the largest serving of French fries has returned to its roots in Idaho after a worldwide journey. On October 2, during the Boise Potato Days festival, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) and Spud Daddy set a new Guinness World Record with a staggering 1,474 pounds of fresh-cut fries.<\/p>\n The impressive feat involved turning 1,700 pounds of Idaho potatoes into the world-famous fries. This new record surpasses the previous one of 1,452.85 pounds, which was set in India back in 2018. <\/p>\n Idaho first held the record in 2014, when Twin Oaks Farms in Eagle served 1,003 pounds of French fries. Since then, the title went to Greece and then India, where it stayed until it was reclaimed by Idaho.<\/p>\n Achieving a Guinness World Record is no easy task. Reports indicate that the organization receives about 50,000 applications each year, but around 95% of those are turned down.<\/p>\n “If you’re going to have the record for the largest serving of French fries, it should be in Idaho,” said Jamey Higham, President and CEO of IPC. “Idaho potatoes are known for making the best fries, and we\u2019re proud to bring this title back home to celebrate our local growers.”<\/p>\n Thomas Watson, Founder of Spud Daddy and Potato Days, expressed his excitement, stating, “We do potatoes big in Idaho, but this was on another level.
