Actor Dino Morea is in the news again, but this time it’s not about his latest film project. He was questioned by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for the second time on Friday regarding issues related to the Mithi River desilting project. Dino, along with his brother, Santino Rocco Morea, had faced similar questioning back in May 2025.<\/p>\n
Reports indicate that the recent summons was prompted by phone records that suggested Dino had contact with individuals involved in the case. A police officer, wishing to remain anonymous, confirmed to a local publication that investigators made the call after uncovering these connections.<\/p>\n
Both Morea brothers and Punita Kadam, the wife of an arrested suspect named Ketan Kadam, are directors at UBO Ridez Private Limited, a private firm under scrutiny. The EOW is currently scrutinizing financial dealings between the Kadams and Santino Rocco Morea, and they are looking into the process by which Ketan Kadam’s company, Woder India LLP, secured municipal contracts. Importantly, the authorities have stated that there is no evidence of wrongdoing against Dino Morea as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
Ketan Kadam was apprehended on May 7 and is one of 13 individuals charged with allegedly defrauding the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of Rs. 65.54 crores through various financial misdeeds, including inflated bids and corrupt practices. Another individual, Jayesh Joshi, associated with Virgo Specialties Private Limited, has also been taken into custody in connection with the investigation.<\/p>\n
The EOW has contended that certain BMC officials traveled to Kochi in October 2020 to acquire desilting machinery from Matprop Technical Services Private Limited and subsequently issued tenders for desilting operations. Allegations suggest that the specifications of the equipment matched those from Matprop, leaving contractors little choice but to utilize their machines. Under the terms of the contract, the BMC would compensate contractors based on the volume of silt removed from the river.<\/p>\n
Authorities claim that those wanting to rent equipment were directed to Joshi and Ketan Kadam, who allegedly conspired with the company to rent out the machinery at inflated prices rather than offering it for sale. EOW officials further allege that municipal records were manipulated to exaggerate the amount of silt needing removal, benefiting certain contractors in the process.<\/p>\n
As the investigation continues, many are watching closely to see if more individuals will be implicated.
