Michael Helgren has always been on the move, both literally and figuratively. The Santa Rosa native, who has spent years performing as a professional figure skater and entertainer, has launched a new venture called MH Relocation, designed to help others navigate the challenges of moving.<\/p>\n
The new business, started earlier this year, offers services to assist individuals and families facing the many logistical hurdles of relocation. While Helgren does not handle the real estate aspect of moving, he provides coaching to help clients explore their goals and settle into their new lives. <\/p>\n
Helgren, now 37, understands both the excitement and anxiety that comes with relocating. \u201cMoving to a different country or even just another state can be overwhelming. I want to make that transition as smooth as possible,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n
Growing up in Santa Rosa, Helgren graduated from Piner High School in 2007. His love for skating began when he attended holiday ice shows at Snoopy’s Home Ice. Initially unimpressed, by age 13, he was hooked and dedicated to honing his skills. <\/p>\n
Thanks to his sister working at the local rink, Helgren was able to take free lessons, eventually leading him to incredible success. He starred in holiday performances and went on to represent the U.S. in international competitions. Later, he spent seven years with Cirque du Soleil and has enjoyed 13 years with Disney on Ice. Currently, Helgren is on tour with “Disney on Ice,” where he portrays Prince Eric from “The Little Mermaid.” <\/p>\n
With over 50 countries and many major U.S. cities visited through his career, Helgren\u2019s travels have enriched his understanding of moving and adapting to new environments.<\/p>\n
Inspired by friends and family seeking his advice on relocation, Helgren decided to formalize his expertise. His website lists areas like San Francisco and Las Vegas as his specialties, but he is equipped to assist clients all over.<\/p>\n
Helgren caters to various clients, including professionals who are relocating for work and families moving to new areas. Depending on the engagement, the cost for his services ranges from $250 to $1,250.<\/p>\n
The process often starts with what Helgren calls a \u201cclarity call,\u201d where he discusses the client’s needs and what services can best support them. His work can cover logistical concerns, such as utility setups, as well as coaching clients on community involvement and social connections in their new area.<\/p>\n
A common theme in Helgren’s discussions with clients is the importance of location. \u201cMany people focus on the specifics of a house, like the number of rooms,\u201d he noted. \u201cBut when moving your whole life, location should be a priority. You want to be close to work, schools, and amenities.”<\/p>\n
One of Helgren\u2019s first clients was Antonia Tremblay, who moved from Brooklyn to Sacramento. Tremblay praised Helgren for his strategic advice and support while allowing her to make her own decisions throughout the process.<\/p>\n
Currently, Helgren juggles his new business with his demanding schedule on tour. While performing nightly with “Disney on Ice,” he also finds time during the day to manage his relocation services. His home base is in Las Vegas, but he often spends time with family in Sonoma County.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, Helgren dreams of retiring in the south of France with his husband. He humorously stated that when they’re ready for their next big move, they will definitely seek help from MH Relocation.<\/p>\n
