In quantum mechanics, particles called qubits can exist in multiple states at once, a concept known as superposition. Imagine flipping a coin in the air. Until it lands, it can be thought of as being both heads and tails simultaneously. While the universe operates on these quantum principles, our everyday experiences are different, making the topic tough to grasp. Notably, physicist Richard Feynman once quipped, \u201cIf you think you understand quantum mechanics, you don\u2019t understand quantum mechanics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The potential of quantum computers lies not only in their speed but also in their resemblance to natural processes. This could lead to breakthroughs in various fields, including weather forecasting, climate science, and nuclear fusion. Additionally, quantum technology holds promise for advancements in pharmaceuticals, material science, and energy storage.<\/p>\n<p>Google first announced its progress in quantum computing in 2019 when it revealed its quantum chip that achieved what\u2019s known as quantum supremacy. This milestone indicated that the quantum computer could solve a problem that was impractically lengthy for classical computers.<\/p>\n<p>There are concerns about how quantum computers could impact current security systems, such as those used in Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
