Recently, he achieved an impressive throw of 87.68 meters at the Continental Tour silver event in Bhubaneswar, making him the second-best javelin thrower in India’s history. With this remarkable performance, he surpassed Kishore Jena, who previously held the second place with a throw of 87.54 meters earlier this year.

Currently, only Neeraj Chopra remains ahead of Rohit, holding the top position with his national record throw of 90.23 meters, which he achieved at the Doha Diamond League in 2025.

Notable Indian Javelin Throwers

Neeraj Chopra – 90.23 meters

Rohit Yadav – 87.68 meters (latest throw)

Kishore Jena – 87.54 meters

Sachin Yadav – 86.27 meters

Shivpal Singh – 86.23 meters

Yashvir Singh – 85.41 meters

Rohit’s journey has been impressive. Earlier this year, he entered the top three on the Indian all-time list with a throw of 87.05 meters, announcing his arrival as a leading javelin thrower in the country. Just two months later, he improved his personal best significantly.

His latest throw places him sixth on the all-time list for Asian athletes and fourth globally this season. Rohit is now also recognized as the third-best thrower in Asia this year.

Despite a disappointing performance at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, where he managed only 81.56 meters in the final, Rohit has bounced back strongly. This past Saturday, he took center stage at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

The conditions posed challenges for Rohit, especially as rain on the day made the track slippery, causing him to be cautious. During his second attempt, he took a tumble that resulted in a knee injury. His initial throw of just 75 meters was followed by a surge in confidence, leading to longer throws.

Throw Sequence for Rohit Yadav:

Foul

Foul

75.92 meters

78.73 meters

81.82 meters

87.68 meters

With each subsequent attempt, Rohit’s throws improved, culminating in his final attempt where he threw with determination.

This latest achievement puts him in an elite group within Indian athletics, with only Neeraj Chopra having thrown farther for the nation. Rohit’s sights are now set on the Asian Games, where he aims to continue his success.

After his victory, Rohit expressed his confidence, saying he believes he can achieve an even longer throw in the Asian Games under the right conditions. With his recent performances, Rohit Yadav has shown that he is ready to step out of Neeraj Chopra’s shadow, and there may be even greater accomplishments ahead for him in his athletic journey.

Rohit Yadav is making waves in the world of javelin throwing in India.
