University of Essex Spinout Advances Agricultural Robotics with New Funding<\/strong><\/p>\n Versatile RobotX, a startup emerging from the University of Essex, has successfully raised over \u00a31 million through a combination of equity investment and grant funding. This financial boost aims to speed up the launch of its advanced robotic technology in agriculture.<\/p>\n The funding includes support from the British Design Fund (BDF) and grants from two government initiatives: Innovate UK\u2019s Growth Catalyst Investor Partnerships and the Defra Farming Innovation Programme. <\/p>\n Founded by Professor Klaus McDonald-Maier and Dr. Vishwanathan Mohan, Versatile RobotX is focused on creating robots that can handle and harvest crops autonomously. Their goal is to tackle the current labor shortages in farming and improve efficiency during harvest.<\/p>\n The robots utilize sophisticated technology, including embedded artificial intelligence, machine vision, and robotic arms, to carry out the delicate task of harvesting crops.
