Arkansas Tech University Welcomes New Students for Fall 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Arkansas Tech University (ATU) recently kicked off its first-year student orientation on August 16, 2026, with a warm welcome from President Dr. Russell Jones. Speaking to students gathered at John E. Tucker Coliseum, Jones provided reassurance as they embark on this new chapter in their lives.<\/p>\n \u201cI know many of you are feeling anxious about what lies ahead,\u201d said Jones. \u201cBut it’s completely okay if you aren’t sure about your major yet. You are here to discover who you want to be and what career path fits you best. We have numerous options available, and you will find the right one for you.\u201d<\/p>\n ATU is set to welcome one of its largest freshman classes in the last three years, expecting around 9,000 students overall for the 2026-27 academic year. The new semester officially begins with classes starting on August 19.<\/p>\n In his address, Jones expressed joy at the students’ decision to further their education. \u201cWelcome to our freshman class! You\u2019ve made significant choices by pursuing your education and choosing Arkansas Tech. I\u2019ve been here for six years, and I can confidently say it\u2019s a great place filled with supportive people who genuinely want to see you succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the new students, Ricky Johnson, is studying psychology and hails from Russellville, having graduated from Atkins High School. \u201cI think this will be a fantastic new experience,\u201d Johnson shared. \u201cI\u2019ve already spent a couple of days on campus as part of the (marching) band, and it has been a lot of fun. I\u2019ve met so many wonderful people, and I look forward to embracing new experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n For Johnson, the opportunity to meet new friends and grow socially is just as important as academic success. \u201cI want to excel in my studies and be a good friend to others,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Another freshman, Kaitlyn Bradley, has chosen to major in elementary education. A proud graduate of Pottsville High School, she expressed excitement about continuing her education. \u201cIt\u2019s important to me to pursue my passion, especially since I’ve worked at a daycare during high school,\u201d said Bradley. \u201cI want to make new friends and connect with classmates while I study.\u201d<\/p>\n The orientation for new students will wrap up on August 18, and ATU will continue its Welcome Week festivities through August 22. As President Jones reminded the students, \u201cThese next four years can be some of the best of your life. Take the opportunity to learn, build friendships, and get involved in campus life.
