In an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court, the National Medical Commission (NMC) emphasized the need for reasonable working hours and adequate rest to ensure the well-being of doctors as well as quality patient care. <\/p>\n However, the NMC stated that it could not guarantee these conditions, as the responsibility lies with central and state health authorities. This affidavit was filed in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) from a group of doctors advocating for healthier working environments. The commission shared findings from a task force, revealing the tough conditions faced by these doctors.<\/p>\n According to the report, the demanding schedules, including long shifts of up to 24 hours and back-to-back duties, have become major stressors for many postgraduate doctors.
