However, the day was not without its challenges. In athletics, Parul Chaudhary, Animesh Kujur, and Vishal TK struggled to make an impact. The cycling events were also disappointing for the Indian team.<\/p>\n
### Lovepreet’s Stellar Performance<\/p>\n
Lovepreet Singh delivered a remarkable performance, lifting a total of 388 kg (176 kg snatch + 212 kg clean and jerk). He set a new Commonwealth Games record with his 176 kg snatch but narrowly missed the gold, coming just 1 kg short of New Zealand’s David Andrew Liti, who won with a total of 389 kg. Lovepreet had a strong start, leading by 10 kg after the snatch, but Liti made an impressive comeback during the clean and jerk.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s +86 kg category, 18-year-old Martina Devi showed determination as she bounced back from two failed attempts to secure her place. She finished with a total of 245 kg, narrowly missing the podium after struggling with her clean and jerk lifts.<\/p>\n
Lovepreet\u2019s silver was an improvement on his previous bronze in Birmingham, helping India end its weightlifting campaign in Glasgow with eight medals\u2014one gold, six silvers, and one bronze.<\/p>\n
### Seema’s Medal Achievement<\/p>\n
India also celebrated a podium finish in athletics as Seema Kaliramna won a bronze medal in the women\u2019s discus throw with a best mark of 58.65 m. After a shaky start with three fouls, she secured her place on the podium with her third-round throw. Despite not achieving legal marks in her final attempts, she managed to hold her ground against competitors like Cameroon’s Monie Nora Atim, who could not surpass her.<\/p>\n
Gold went to Jamaica’s Samantha Hall, who threw 61.66 m, while Canada\u2019s Julia Tunks took silver with 60.67 m.<\/p>\n
