This funding is intended to help students acquire skills for high-paying jobs in industries that are in demand within the local job market.<\/p>\n<p>MetroED\u2019s Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) program will benefit from $989,645 allocated through the K12 Strong Workforce Program. The goal of this funding is to prepare students for the growing needs in green technology fields. This includes training in areas such as electric vehicle tech, environmentally friendly HVAC systems, fire science focused on sustainability, and clean diesel technology.<\/p>\n<p>MetroED serves both high school and adult learners in Santa Clara County. It operates under a collaborative agreement that includes the Campbell Union High School District and partners with several local colleges, such as Evergreen Community College, Mission College, San Jose City College, and West Valley College.<\/p>\n<h4>New Chair for Water Board<\/h4>\n<p>On December 10, the Valley Water Board of Directors appointed Tony Estremera as chair for the year 2025. Richard P. Santos was chosen to be the vice chair.<\/p>\n<p>Estremera has been a member of the Valley Water Board since 1996 and is now entering his fifth term as chair. He represents District 6, which includes parts of Central and East San Jose, particularly the Mayfair area.<\/p>\n<p>Santos begins his fifth term as vice chair.
