Speaking at a Q&amp;A session at the British Film Institute in London, Aamir clarified that this idea is simply not true. He assured the audience that neither he nor the film&#8217;s writers were aware of Wangchuk during the film&#8217;s production.<\/p>\n<p>Aamir described the connection as a &#8220;misconception,&#8221; stating, &#8220;I didn\u2019t know about Mr. Sonam when we were making <em>3 Idiots<\/em>. I saw a recent video where Chatur mentioned it, but that\u2019s incorrect. Neither Raju, Abhijat, nor I had any knowledge of Mr. Sonam at that time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite clearing the air on the inspiration behind his character, Aamir did express admiration for Wangchuk&#8217;s work in education and social reform.
