In a touching ceremony, a terminally ill man named Dean Pennell, 63, married his fianc\u00e9e Kay Beaman, 62, after 20 years of engagement. The couple, who met 24 years ago through their children, had delayed their wedding for years to support their ten kids.<\/p>\n
With a heartbreaking diagnosis of terminal cancer and only weeks to live, Dean finally tied the knot with Kay on June 18 at Colchester Hospital in Essex, England. Kay expressed her joy, saying, “I am absolutely elated. We have waited a long time, and it\u2019s so special to be able to celebrate our marriage here, with our families.”<\/p>\n
Dean had proposed to Kay two decades ago, but financial constraints made it impossible for them to prioritize a wedding. They had planned to marry this year until Dean’s condition prompted them to move the date up, bringing family and friends\u2014including their children and some grandchildren\u2014together for the special occasion.<\/p>\n
The couple\u2019s wedding was organized in less than a week, thanks to the dedicated staff at the hospital. “It was very hard for Dean. He had been so excited leading up to the wedding,” Kay shared, noting how he would call her each morning to count down the days.<\/p>\n
On their wedding day, Dean insisted on standing up for as much of the ceremony as he could, even though he was feeling exhausted afterward. Kay explained, “It was a lovely day.”<\/p>\n
