He described the decision as a valuable enhancement of the friendship between the two nations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, I am pleased to announce that we are taking further steps to return the remains of an Australian First Nations ancestor to their rightful custodians,\u201d Albanese said during a media briefing.<\/p>\n<p>In a spirit of cooperation, Albanese further noted that several culturally significant items would be voluntarily returned to India, drawn from the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.<\/p>\n<p>The three key Indian artifacts set to be repatriated include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p><strong>The Sacred Bull Nandi<\/strong>: A granite statue from Tamil Nadu, dating back to the 11th to 12th century. This idol represents Nandi, the sacred bull and vehicle of Lord Shiva.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Trident with Auspicious Kali (Bhadrakali)<\/strong>: An 11th-century bronze trident embedded with the image of Goddess Bhadrakali, symbolizing divine power and protection within the Shaiva-Shakti traditions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Six-Headed Skanda (Karttikeya)<\/strong>: This exquisite basalt statue from the 12th century showcases Karttikeya, a symbol of wisdom and courage, typically depicted with multiple arms and often accompanied by a peacock.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Albanese expressed gratitude to PM Modi and the Indian team for their constructive dialogue, stating, \u201cAlthough we are separated by an ocean, we are indeed the closest of friends.
