Just two days after its debut on ZEE5, the film was removed from the platform in India.

Satluj, inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, had previously faced a lengthy certification issue before making its appearance on ZEE5 under a new title. Following its release, the streaming service announced it would not be available in India until further notice.

Ministry officials stated that the film lacked the mandatory certification needed for a theatrical release prior to its online launch. “Instead of following the certification process, the filmmakers changed the title and released it on the OTT platform,” an official told the press.

The ministry also mentioned that nearly 100 cuts had been suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification before the film’s release. However, rather than making the needed changes, the filmmakers proceeded with the online release under a different title.

Moreover, officials emphasized that they had not received any requests for approval or reconsideration from the filmmakers before Satluj was made available.

In response to these developments, ZEE5 confirmed, “Considering the current situation, Satluj will be taken down in India until further notice. We are committed to using all appropriate means to bring the film back to our audiences as soon as we can.”

The film’s removal prompted political reactions, with Congress leader Pargat Singh expressing his disappointment. He criticized the ban, stating that genuine issues of human rights violations should be showcased publicly. “Power should be used, not misused. Every person has the right to know these stories,” Singh added.

During an Instagram Live session, Diljit Dosanjh expressed his understanding of the situation. “I expected something like this might happen. I thought the film could get banned once offices opened on Monday, but I didn’t anticipate it would occur on a Sunday evening,” he remarked.

Despite the controversy, Dosanjh felt grateful that the film had already reached a significant audience. “I’m happy to see that many have downloaded it, and it’s even being screened at Gurudwara Sahib. That brings me immense joy,” he shared.

Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures, Satluj features a notable cast, including Arjun Rampal and Kanwaljit Singh.

Controversy Surrounds Diljit Dosanjh’s Film ‘Satluj’ After OTT Release NEW DELHI: The situation regarding Diljit Dosanjh’s film Satluj has escalated as the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting revealed that the film was released on an OTT platform without the necessary certification.
