Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the plant and praised these women as key players in India’s growing skilled workforce.

During the ceremony, PM Modi shared how these women, after completing their education at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), made the journey from their remote tribal communities to work in this high-tech sector. He highlighted their enthusiasm and confidence as they guided him through the factory, explaining every step of the manufacturing process.

“These daughters have traveled from states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. They come from ordinary families and schools but are achieving extraordinary things,” he remarked. The Prime Minister noted the changing perceptions of vocational education, emphasizing that many of these women have reached milestones that once seemed out of reach.

He recalled a time when mentioning ITI education was met with hesitation, but that mindset has transformed. Many of these women had never applied for a passport or traveled far from home. However, they recently went to Malaysia for advanced training in semiconductor technology and are now vital contributors to India’s ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chips.

Among these trailblazing women are Poonam Kumari from Giridih district, Priyanka Dhanwar from West Singhbhum district, and Shivani Uikey from Balaghat district, all serving as machine operators at the CG Semi plant. Poonam, who lives with her mother after her father passed away, shared her excitement about her new opportunities.

“I had never even traveled outside Jharkhand. Going to Malaysia for training was a dream come true.
