To reach the semifinals, India must defeat the formidable Australians.

In a game held at Old Trafford, India managed to restrict Bangladesh to 136 runs, despite a shaky performance in the field. They successfully chased down the target, finishing at 139-5 with 19 balls to spare.

The upcoming match against Australia will take place at the sold-out Lord’s venue. The Australian team has been strong, winning all four of their matches so far, including a notable victory against South Africa, which had previously bested India.

“We’re ready for Australia,” said Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur. “A win there would give us a lot of confidence.”

One of Bangladesh’s missed opportunities came early on when they dropped Indian player Shafali Verma during the first over. Verma made the most of her chance, scoring a quick 53 runs off just 29 balls and helping to build a solid foundation for India’s innings before getting stumped.

Despite her early exit, India was well-supported by Yastika Bhatia, who added 23 runs, and Jemimah Rodrigues, who contributed 26.

“I was sad that I got out,” Verma admitted. “I would have felt better if I had batted through the innings.”

India’s fielding was less than perfect, as they dropped four catches in the early stages. Nandni Sharma, a medium-pacer, even received warnings for overstepping the crease. However, Bangladesh struggled to capitalize due to a lack of aggressive hitters.

The top scorer for Bangladesh was Juairiya Ferdous, who was caught and bowled by Sharma after scoring 33 runs. Captain Nigar Sultana also made notable contributions, finishing her innings with 32 runs before being stumped.

In other matches on the same day, South Africa was scheduled to face the Netherlands.

This latest win has given India hope as they look forward to a critical showdown with Australia.

India Advances in Women’s T20 World Cup with Win Over Bangladesh MANCHESTER, England — India secured a solid victory against Bangladesh by five wickets in the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup on Thursday, setting the stage for a critical match against Australia on Sunday.
