This city is known for its link to Abraham, who is said to have created an oasis there and spread the belief in one God. The new designation follows a vision to create a Route 66-like experience for tourists, students, and others interested in biblical history.

As travelers journey along the highway, they will pass significant sites including Hebron, where Abraham purchased the Cave of the Patriarchs, and Bethlehem, renowned as the birthplace of Jesus. Jerusalem, home to many sacred sites including Mount Moriah and the historic First and Second Temples, is also on this route.

Yishai Fleisher, an international spokesperson for Hebron’s Jewish community, expressed his enthusiasm over the recognition of Route 60. He highlighted that this initiative is akin to the famous tourist routes found around the world, like Germany’s Romantic Road and Spain’s Camino de Santiago.

Fleisher emphasized the educational and cultural value of this project, noting the importance of the Bible in shaping Israel’s identity. He also mentioned that the efforts to promote the Biblical Highway come at a time when there are attempts by the Palestinian Authority to challenge narratives surrounding historically significant Jewish sites.

Others involved in the project, such as Ze’ev Orenstein from the City of David organization, believe that the highway will allow visitors to connect with biblical history in a tangible way. He described it as an invitation to explore places where key biblical stories took place, making history come alive.

The Israeli Ministry of Tourism intends to support this initiative through marketing efforts, including the development of visitor centers and multilingual signage along the highway.

Overall, the establishment of the Biblical Highway is seen as a way to strengthen ties to Israel’s heritage while inviting others to explore and appreciate this rich historical landscape.

Israel Unveils New ‘Biblical Highway’ to Highlight Historical Roots The Israeli government has announced a new initiative to designate Route 60, which runs from Nazareth in the north to Beersheba in the south, as the “Biblical Highway.” This move aims to highlight the historical and religious significance of this route, which has served as a

[29
18670,18597,24337,1072,311
post-34973","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-world-news","tag-anti-semitism","tag-christianity-religion","tag-faith-values","tag-israel","tag-travel
["GET
