MUMBAI<\/strong> \u2013 On June 3, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor announced that the trade agreement between India and the United States is nearly complete, with only a few minor issues left to address.<\/p>\n Speaking to reporters during the CITI India 2026 Conference in Mumbai, Gor expressed hope that both nations are close to finalizing the interim trade deal. He emphasized that officials from both sides are actively engaged in discussions and are committed to wrapping up the agreement, which he believes will benefit both India and the US.<\/p>\n \u201cThis morning, I met with the US delegation that traveled from Washington, D.C. Our Deputy Trade Negotiator has been in Delhi for several days, and they are here with a large team. We\u2019re very optimistic about the agreement\u2014it’s 99 percent done, and we\u2019re currently ironing out the final details,\u201d Gor stated.<\/p>\n He also mentioned that the delegation plans to return to Delhi for a meeting with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, as negotiations get closer to completion. \u201cThe team will meet with officials from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of External Affairs. We\u2019ll head back to Delhi tomorrow morning to discuss things with Commerce Minister Goyal,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Gor highlighted that discussions between India and the US have been ongoing for almost a year and a half, in contrast to the nearly 19 years it took to reach a trade agreement with the European Union.
