US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has strongly defended the United States’ military strategy towards Iran, claiming that the country has been trying to build its conventional military capabilities as a way to protect its nuclear goals. <\/p>\n
During a recent hearing with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio explained that American military actions have significantly weakened Iran\u2019s military strength, leaving its conventional forces without a credible defense.<\/p>\n
“They aimed to create a conventional shield and hide behind it,” Rubio told the committee members. <\/p>\n
He pointed out that Iran’s naval forces have been hit hard during recent conflicts. Rubio underscored this by saying that what remains of Iran’s navy could be described as “a bunch of Boston Whalers with machine guns on them,” indicating that their naval strength has drastically diminished.<\/p>\n
Rubio also mentioned that US operations have greatly impacted Iran’s overall defense system, particularly affecting its production of drones. While he acknowledged that cost-effective drone technology continues to pose a global challenge, he emphasized that Tehran’s ability to produce these drones has been significantly reduced.<\/p>\n
“This is a widespread issue we need to address,” Rubio remarked, while confidently stating that Iran\u2019s \u201cconventional shield\u201d has been greatly weakened by recent military actions.
