The visit, which ended on May 28, focused on trade, investment, and ongoing talks for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two nations.<\/p>\n<p>During his time in Canada, Goyal met with various groups, including academics, innovation centers, government officials, business councils, and members of the Indian diaspora in Toronto and Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Commerce and Industry noted that these meetings \u201chelped maintain the positive momentum in the India-Canada economic relationship,\u201d showcasing India as a top choice for investment and technology partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>One highlight was Goyal\u2019s visit to the University of Toronto\u2019s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. There, he talked to faculty and students about India&#8217;s economic growth and how to boost bilateral trade and connections between the people of both countries.<\/p>\n<p>He also explored the Ontario Centre of Innovation, engaging with Canada-India Tech Connect to discuss advancements in artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Goyal pointed out opportunities for collaboration in various fields, including AI, cleantech, agritech, and deep tech.<\/p>\n<p>A significant part of Goyal\u2019s visit included a meeting with Doug Ford, the Premier of Ontario. They discussed possible partnerships in areas like manufacturing, technology, energy, food processing, and critical minerals.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Goyal spoke with regional business leaders and industry representatives to emphasize the need for stronger commercial ties and greater investment, especially as CEPA talks continue.<\/p>\n<p>He met with institutional investors like the Ontario Teachers\u2019 Pension Plan and CPP Investments to discuss investment possibilities in infrastructure, renewable energy, logistics, financial services, and the digital economy in India.<\/p>\n<p>Encouraging further collaboration, Goyal urged businesses to explore opportunities in sectors such as clean energy, aerospace, and technology.
