Hong Kong has recently surpassed Switzerland to become the largest cross-border wealth center in the world, as highlighted by a report from Boston Consulting Group (BCG). This shift is fueled by a surge in initial public offerings (IPOs) and increased capital flow from mainland China.<\/p>\n
According to BCG’s latest global wealth report released on Wednesday, cross-border wealth in Hong Kong soared 10.7% in 2025, reaching $2.95 trillion. This figure narrowly outpaces Switzerland, which holds $2.94 trillion after a 7.6% growth last year.<\/p>\n
Michael Kahlich, a managing director at BCG and co-author of the report, stated, \u201cThese changes are reshaping the landscape of global wealth.\u201d He pointed out that Hong Kong\u2019s rise showcases the growing influence of Asian wealth and capital markets.<\/p>\n
Kahlich further noted that capital flows are now focusing on a smaller number of well-connected global hubs.<\/p>\n
In recent years, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has implemented deregulation measures in equity and debt financing, along with commodity trading. These efforts aim to enhance cross-border investment and solidify Hong Kong’s position as a premier international financial hub.<\/p>\n
