India’s Ambassador to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, spoke during the session focused on “Protection of civilians in armed conflict.” He pointed out the irony of Pakistan addressing matters concerning India, given its own “long-tainted” history.

Parvathaneni’s comments were made in response to Pakistan’s representative bringing up Jammu and Kashmir during the debate. He didn’t hold back, stating, “It is ironic that Pakistan, with its history of genocidal acts, has the audacity to discuss our internal matters.”

Looking back at recent events, Parvathaneni recalled an airstrike by Pakistan in Afghanistan, which took place during Ramadan in March of this year. He condemned the attack on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul, describing it as a “barbaric” act that resulted in the deaths of 269 civilians and injuries to 122 others. He cited the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to emphasize that the hospital should never have been considered a military target.

He criticized Pakistan, calling its claims of upholding international law “hypocritical” while it attacks innocent civilians. The attack occurred shortly after evening prayers, when many patients were leaving the mosque, further highlighting the brutality of the act.

Parvathaneni also brought attention to the displacement caused by violence in the region, noting that over 94,000 people had to flee their homes due to cross-border conflicts instigated by Pakistan. He remarked that such violent behavior is unsurprising from a nation that has repeatedly harmed its own citizens and engages in systematic violence.

Furthermore, he recalled a dark chapter in history, mentioning the mass rape of 400,000 women during Operation Searchlight in 1971, a military operation carried out by Pakistan against Bangladeshi nationalists.

“This violence reflects Pakistan’s long history of trying to shift blame for its internal failures by resorting to acts of aggression,” Parvathaneni concluded, emphasizing that the world is becoming increasingly aware of Pakistan’s tactics.

India Criticizes Pakistan’s History of Violence at UN Security Council India took a strong stance against Pakistan at the recent UN Security Council debate, highlighting the neighboring country’s troubled past of violence and its ongoing attempts to divert attention from its internal issues.
