He emphasized that Pakistan needs to choose between being a relevant part of the world or fading into history. This statement followed the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, which was launched in reaction to a tragic terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

Speaking at an event organized by ‘Uniform Unveiled’ in New Delhi, General Dwivedi was questioned about the Indian Army’s potential responses if similar situations arise again, as they did last year during Operation Sindoor.

He stated, “If Pakistan continues to support terrorism and act against India, they must decide if they want to remain part of geography or become part of history.”

Remembering Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor commenced on May 7 last year as a retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. The operation involved precise strikes by the Indian Armed Forces on terrorist networks linked to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In response, Pakistan attempted to target Indian military and civilian sites, prompting counter offensives from the Indian forces, which were part of Operation Sindoor. This exchange lasted about 88 hours and concluded with a request from Pakistan’s Directorate General of Military Operations (DGMO) for a ceasefire.

While the conflict officially ended on May 10, Indian leaders have reiterated that Operation Sindoor is merely on hold and cautioned Pakistan against any potential aggression. They highlighted that the Indian military successfully managed the escalation during the entire four-day period of conflict.

Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (strategy), made it clear at a press conference on May 7: “No area across the Line of Control is off-limits. We will pursue and strike at everything, but the conditions, timing, and methods will be determined by us.”

Marking a Year of Action

The anniversary of Operation Sindoor serves as a reminder of India’s resolve against terrorism and its commitment to ensuring national security.

New Delhi: Army Chief’s Tough Message to Pakistan On Saturday, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi delivered a strong message to Pakistan, warning the country about the consequences of sheltering terrorists.
