Researchers examined 100 countries measured across eight key areas: governance, culture and tourism, civic health, economic development, health, infrastructure, opportunity, and the natural environment. Additionally, 24 subcategories were assessed, including public safety and healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>The top-ranked nations mainly include well-known and some underrated spots in Europe, with the United States and Japan surprisingly absent from the top 10. Senior data editor Evan Comen explained that the US\u2019s varied performances in major categories led to its lower ranking. While it excelled in economic development and culture and tourism, its standing in critical areas like health and infrastructure pulled it down.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the top 20 countries as ranked by US
