Crocodile Recovery Operation in South Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n Authorities in South Africa conducted a challenging recovery operation over the weekend, successfully airlifting a large crocodile believed to be involved in the death of a local man.<\/p>\n The operation was prompted by the disappearance of Gabriel Batista, a 59-year-old businessman from Gauteng, last month. He was reportedly swept away while trying to cross a flooded river near his inn, the Border Country Inn.<\/p>\n A special task force located the crocodile along the Komati River on Saturday. The reptile was euthanized for examinations, which revealed human remains in its stomach.<\/p>\n Footage of the operation, which captured personnel retrieving the crocodile by helicopter, has circulated widely on social media platforms.<\/p>\n According to police, Batista went missing after his vehicle became trapped in rising waters. State reports indicated that the vehicle was carried away as he attempted to cross the bridge.<\/p>\n After an extensive search lasting a week, the task force suspected this particular crocodile had attacked Batista due to its inactivity and signs of having recently fed.<\/p>\n SAPS Captain Johan Potgieter highlighted that the crocodile was located just 150 meters from where the man fell off the bridge and seemed unusually still during the aerial search.<\/p>\n Following the necessary approvals, the animal was euthanized. Potgieter, who was lowered from a helicopter into the perilous waters, managed to secure the crocodile before it was hoisted out of the river.<\/p>\n During an inspection, investigators found not only human remains but also six pairs of sandals inside the crocodile.
