Sherman, who was the undersecretary of state for political affairs under Obama and later served under President Joe Biden, expressed her concerns about Trump’s approach to Iran.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Bloomberg News, Sherman questioned Trump’s strategy, stating, “He doesn\u2019t have a plan. His style is too tactical and transactional, which may not suit this situation.” She also highlighted the negative impacts of his policies, suggesting they have harmed U.S. alliances and resulted in the loss of American lives.<\/p>\n
The State Department responded strongly to Sherman\u2019s remarks. Spokesperson Tommy Pigott pointed out her past role in the Obama administration, which critics claim allowed Iran to gain significant financial resources and progress toward nuclear capabilities. Pigott asserted that under Trump’s administration, historic peace deals were achieved, and that the U.S. has maintained a strong position against Iran\u2019s nuclear ambitions.<\/p>\n
Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor, added to the conversation by labeling Sherman as a “key player” in the deal that many believe has enabled Iran’s nuclear power development. He criticized her credibility, emphasizing that if Iran does develop a nuclear weapon, she should be held responsible.<\/p>\n
During the same interview, Sherman also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of leading an approach that has worsened the situation in Gaza. Dershowitz responded to her comments by calling her views anti-Israel, suggesting that they reflect a broader sentiment among some Democrats.<\/p>\n
