This new case involves a woman in her 20s who traveled from abroad to visit family.<\/p>\n<p>According to health officials, this recent case is not related to the first case that was identified on April 18. The patient sought treatment at Brown University Health Urgent Care in Middletown on April 24, where she tested positive for measles. Fortunately, she did not need to be hospitalized.<\/p>\n<p>Health officials from RIDOH are working closely with Brown University Health to reach out to individuals who may have come into contact with the patient at the urgent care center. They confirmed that the patient did not visit any other places since her arrival in Rhode Island.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who might have been exposed and starts to show symptoms is urged to contact their healthcare provider before going to a clinic or hospital. <\/p>\n<p>Measles symptoms usually develop between 7 to 21 days after exposure and may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High fever<\/li>\n<li>Cough<\/li>\n<li>Runny nose<\/li>\n<li>Red, watery eyes<\/li>\n<li>Small white spots inside the mouth<\/li>\n<li>A rash of flat, red blotches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to note that people infected with measles can spread the virus from four days before to four days after the rash appears. <\/p>\n<p>For more information about measles, individuals can check with health authorities or reliable sources.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Second Measles Case Confirmed in Rhode Island The Rhode Island Department of Health has reported a second case of measles in the state.
