In a similar story, Vickie Doogan, 52, from England, faced her own battles with breast cancer. She first discovered a lump and dull pain under her arm when she was just 39 years old. Doctors confirmed it was invasive breast cancer, which had already spread. Vickie underwent a demanding treatment plan, including chemotherapy and surgery, and was eventually declared cancer-free.<\/p>\n
However, in 2019, she received heartbreaking news once again. After learning that she carried a BRCA2 gene mutation, which increases breast cancer risk, she decided to undergo a double mastectomy.
