NEW DELHI<\/strong> \u2014 A proposed bill aimed at reserving a third of parliamentary seats for women failed to gain approval in India’s lower house on Friday. This legislation was intended to enhance the representation of women in Parliament and state legislatures, a significant move considering the underrepresentation of women in the political landscape.<\/p>\n The bill was introduced alongside another proposal to redraw voting boundaries, which became a point of contention during the two-day debate. While there was general support for the idea of increasing women’s representation, opposition parties raised concerns.
