This news comes as the Adani Group is in talks to acquire Jaiprakash Associates Ltd, the parent company of the Jaypee Group, which includes the Buddh International Circuit. In November 2025, the group secured the majority of lenders’ votes to move forward with the acquisition, offering a proposal of \u20b914,535 crores, which won against other bidders due to a higher initial payment.<\/p>\n
During a recent event marking the 70th Foundation Day of the All India Management Association in New Delhi, Adani shared his excitement. He stated, “I am personally involved in bringing Formula 1 back to India. The country has a lot of potential and a significant fan base for the sport.”<\/p>\n
Support from the government also seems promising. Recently, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the Buddh Circuit to discuss its future, indicating that high-level talks about bringing back F1 are ongoing.<\/p>\n
Adani, a long-time follower of Formula 1 since 2000, feels confident that India is ready to host a world-class race. He noted, “India’s reputation has grown significantly, and we can showcase Formula 1 as a major global event.”<\/p>\n
He pointed out that without a local race, fans often travel to places like Abu Dhabi or Singapore to enjoy the excitement of Formula 1. Bringing the event back to India would not only highlight the country\u2019s infrastructure but also its rich hospitality and cultural heritage to the world.<\/p>\n
The last Formula 1 races in India were held in 2011, 2012, and 2013 at the Buddh Circuit but were halted due to a tax dispute with the Uttar Pradesh government, which considered the event entertainment rather than a sport.<\/p>\n
