The Madras High Court has recently allowed Reliance Industries Limited to withdraw its lawsuit regarding alleged piracy related to the film Dhurandhar<\/em>. This decision was made during a hearing on February 18.<\/p>\n Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy presided over the case, where Reliance\u2019s representatives informed the court that they had instructions from their client to discontinue the legal proceedings. Consequently, the court dismissed the case without imposing any costs and closed any related applications.<\/p>\n Reliance had originally filed the lawsuit through Jio Studios, aiming to prevent unauthorized online distribution and broadcast of Dhurandhar<\/em>. This legal action was proposed as a protective measure before the film\u2019s theatrical release, a common step taken by film producers.<\/p>\n The lawsuit named several defendants, including major telecom operators, internet service providers, and cable networks like BSNL, Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and others. Reliance sought court orders to instruct these entities to block access to websites offering pirated copies of the film. They also requested restrictions on cable operators to prevent any unauthorized broadcasting or distribution of Dhurandhar<\/em>.<\/p>\n Previously, on December 5, the court had granted temporary relief, restricting service providers and cable operators from sharing pirated versions of the film. However, when the case was revisited on February 18, Reliance\u2019s legal team chose to withdraw the lawsuit, which the court recorded in a brief order.
