Australian Cricketer Jerrssis Wadia Looks Up to Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli<\/strong><\/p>\n

Young Australian cricketer Jerrssis Wadia has opened up about his admiration for several cricket legends, especially Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, and Travis Head. Wadia is making a name for himself with the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025\u201326, where he recently made waves by scoring 24 runs in a single over against Brisbane Heat all-rounder Jack Wildermuth.<\/p>\n

Born on December 3, 2001, in India, Wadia shared that he has always looked up to Yuvraj Singh. He found Yuvraj’s inspirational comeback from cancer, particularly his stunning 150 runs off 127 balls against England in Cuttack in 2017, extremely motivating. “Growing up, my hero was Yuvraj Singh. His smooth batting style as a left-hander and his resilience after battling cancer really inspired me,” Wadia said during an interview on The Surge Podcast by the BBL.<\/p>\n

Wadia also expressed admiration for Virat Kohli, highlighting the Indian star’s incredible performance in white-ball cricket over the last two decades. He mentioned that while playing for the Strikers, he has learned a lot from Travis Head, who has been an outstanding run-scorer for the Australian team in recent years. \u201cKohli\u2019s dominance in one-day cricket is something I aspire to emulate. And Head’s mindset is impressive; he plays with such freedom, always striving to maximize his potential,\u201d Wadia explained.<\/p>\n

As for his own development, Wadia is keen to incorporate the strengths of these cricketing icons into his game. “These three players are remarkable, not just on the field but off it too. I look up to them and aim to be like them in my career,” he added.<\/p>\n

Wadia’s Journey in Cricket<\/h4>\n

Wadia\u2019s cricketing journey began in India, where he played age-group cricket for Baroda before moving to Australia. With roots in Mumbai, he grew up in a family that values perseverance and hard work. As a left-handed batsman and left-arm bowler, he joined the Adelaide Strikers\u2019 U19 setup, though the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily halted his progress.<\/p>\n

Once borders reopened, he returned to Adelaide and rebuilt his career through South Australian Premier Cricket, playing for various clubs. His big break came in the 2025\u201326 season when he was called up to the Strikers\u2019 BBL squad as a local replacement for Alex Carey, who was on Ashes duty.<\/p>\n

After a modest debut against the Melbourne Stars, Wadia made headlines with a bold performance against the Brisbane Heat, where his aggressive batting helped chase down a challenging target of 180. Although the Strikers fell short in that match, Wadia\u2019s explosive knock put him on the radar as a promising talent to watch.<\/p>\n
