The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the troubling incidents, especially noting the recent killing of a Hindu youth in Mymensingh, and called for justice for those responsible.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the return of Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), after 17 years, the Indian government emphasized its desire for free and fair parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously expressed his concerns regarding the health of Khaleda Zia, Tarique&#8217;s mother and former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and offered support during this time.<\/p>\n<p>Tarique&#8217;s recent return to Dhaka has energized the BNP, especially with upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for February 12. The MEA also addressed concerns about security in Bangladesh, rejecting any portrayal of a deteriorating law and order situation as false. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that the responsibility for security rests with the Bangladeshi government.<\/p>\n<p>Reports indicate that over 2,900 incidents of violence against minorities have been recorded by independent sources during the tenure of the interim government under chief adviser Muhammad Yunus.
