OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: US President Donald Trump addressed the Israeli parliament on Monday, urging the Palestinian people to move away from \u201cterror and violence\u201d while applauding a newly established ceasefire in Gaza.<\/strong><\/p>\n During his speech to the Knesset, Trump expressed hope that this truce could signal a significant change for the entire Middle East, drawing cheers and applause from the members present.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a clear opportunity for Palestinians,\u201d he stated. \u201cThey can choose to reject the path of terror and violence and get rid of the forces of hatred within their midst\u2014I believe they can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n Since the conflict escalated, more than 67,869 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza. Facing pressure from Trump to secure a victory, Israel agreed to a ceasefire on Friday and subsequently released about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners on Monday in exchange for the remaining 20 Israeli hostages held by Hamas.<\/p>\n Trump emphasized the importance of this moment for the Palestinians. \u201cAfter all the pain and suffering, it\u2019s time to focus on building up their community instead of tearing down Israel. We cannot afford a repeat of the past,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n He urged Gazans to prioritize restoring stability, safety, dignity, and economic growth for their future generations. \u201cChildren deserve a better life after decades of hardship,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n To support this vision, Trump proposed a plan for Gaza, suggesting the formation of a \u201cPeace Board\u201d to guide an interim administration.
