During the study, participants received treatment for 72 weeks with varying doses of the medication (6 mg, 12 mg, and 36 mg). The results revealed that the highest dose allowed users to shed an average of 27.3 pounds. Notably, nearly 60% of the participants experienced a weight drop of 10% or more, while close to 40% lost at least 15% of their body weight.<\/p>\n
Among the 1,127 participants who started the trial with pre-diabetes, a remarkable 91% reached near-normal blood sugar levels compared to just 42% of those receiving a placebo. The drug also demonstrated significant reductions in various cardiovascular risk factors linked to obesity, including cholesterol levels and blood pressure.<\/p>\n

Eli Lilly is now looking to obtain official approval for orforglipron as a weight loss treatment, with hopes that it could be cleared as early as 2026.
